Their Story

We met working for a credit card company in 2012, we started talking when he messaged me on Facebook drunk one day haha. We went on our first date and I told him I just wanted to be friends but he won me over in the end! Chris took me to Paris for my birthday in May 2015 and during a surprise meal up the Eiffel Tower he got down on one knee and proposed (I've never seen him so nervous haha). He then arranged for my best friend to surprise me meeting us at Disneyland the next day. We were engaged for 3 years prior to getting married as we wanted the August date at our chosen venue and this was the next one available!

The Venue

Anne of Cleves Barn at The Great Lodge - We looked for a dry hire venue where we could make it our own and we fell in love with the barn and grounds (and alpacas of course)

Inspiration for the day

We knew we wanted to have the day personal to us... So we wanted to plan every detail ourselves as well as it being relaxed and laid back. We also both love Disney so this had to be incorporated somehow.

What they wore

I always knew I wanted a short 50s style dress but when I tried one on, although I absolutely loved it, it didn't feel quite bridal enough for me. My best friend made me try on a princess dress that I never would've picked myself, and I fell in love and felt so special, there were tears all round. I ended up getting both dresses and surprising everyone with the shorter dress in the evening. I went for flat satin ballet pumps during the day as I wanted to be comfortable but during the evening I bought my dream pair of pink sparkly Irregular Choice shoes, they were an absolute dream. Chris surprised me with a pair of beautiful diamond earrings to wear and I bought him an engraved pocket watch. I didn't wear much other jewellery as my dress was quite detailed, except for a pin with charms under my dress my mum bought as a gift.

My make up was by Polly Neal and my hair was by Perri Orrin (both were amazing and beautiful and I felt like a princess).

“Our wedding day photos are just amazing & beautiful. They fill me with emotion when I look at them.
Just perfect.”

The Flowers

We went with Cherry Picked Flowers as not only were they down the road from the venue but we loved their arrangements and they saw our vision.

The cake

Our cake was made Sweet Peas Cake Boutique, we loved their style and went for a tasting session which was so yummy! Our cake was 3 tiers, each a different flavour, mango and passionfruit, chocolate fudge and red velvet, all as tasty as the next. It was a white cake with shimmer, gold writing saying... 'And they lived happily ever after' and topped off with a princess castle... Perfect for our Disney wedding.

Stationery & Decor

My sister did our invites and table numbers and family friends did the table plan and place cards. A blend of rustic and Disney! I added extra fairy lights to the drapes in the venue and so pleased I did as it looked so effective especially as the light went down. I added log pieces with an assortment of glassware as centrepieces, as well as Disney silhouette jars and flowers. Each table number had a different Disney couple and a quote from the film. For favours, we made little glass bottles with shots (and sparkle) and drink me tags!

The Ceremony

My dad walked me down the aisle and my friend Lucy sung us down the aisle with her guitar singing her rendition of A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. We wrote our own vows, we just wrote them from our hearts, and I added a bit of Disney (a quote from Up). My brother read a passage from 'The Amber Spyglass' which was amazing (I read this book when I was younger and loved it) We also picked 'He's not perfect' by Bob Marley as it spoke to us!

Favourite part of the day?

All of it! Marrying the love of my life, celebrating with family and the alpaca feeding was special.

The Evening Reception

Our photo booth and DJ was provided by Mr Bowman's... The photo booth was just brilliant, it was personalised to suit our theme (our names with mickey heads) and the props were just brilliant. The DJ kept us partying with tunes all night, just fantastic! Our first dance song was the acoustic version of Perfect by Ed Sheeran (we love have always loved Ed sheeran and when this song came out we thought it was perfect)
