‘Today is a day when I look out over my life and I see you there, and I know there is more reason to this world, than we will ever understand’~Brian Andreas

Sophie and Alex held their wedding at one of my favourite venues, the beautifully rustic Maiden Barn in Essex. Traditional elements such as exposed beams, huge windows and high ceilings worked to create an airy and ambient setting for their very personal ceremony and reception.

The bride had chosen a beautiful dress combining an embellished bodice with a flowing full skirt which was offset by the absolutely FABULOUS leather jackets that Sophie’s mother had personalised for the bridal party. They actually came in rather useful on what turned out to be a rather wet and windy day, although nothing could dampen the spirit of the occasion and we even got a twenty minute reprieve in which we managed to get some photographs outside in the lovely grounds.

As Sophie is a fervent animal lover the menu served was entirely vegan and after the wedding breakfast, a slight break with tradition saw both her parents and the Maid of Honour make speeches, the highlight of which must have been when her Dad performed his favourite party trick. I can’t say it’s often I get to see the Father of the Bride extinguish a match on his tongue!

Following the formalities came an epic evening reception which included several of my own favourite additions. Glitter bar (whoop!), donuts from the amazing Cross Town Donuts (who doesn’t love a donut?) and sparklers with the bridal party as the night drew in. It was the perfect end to a wedding that I felt really encapsulated Sophie and Alex as a couple and which I had such fun capturing for them.

Sophie and Alex, thank you so much for letting me share the joy of your special day. Wishing you both a lifetime of love and happiness!
